Special Invitations

The Midwest Region offers several different formats for Dragonboat Racing. You can find Hong Kong style racing, along with the Taiwan, "Flag Catching" style racing.

Hong Kong style racing usually consists of 20 paddlers, a drummer and a sternsman paddling on a course along with 3 or 4 other teams racing to be the first team to put the nose of the dragon across the finish line.

Taiwan style racing consists of 18 paddlers, a drummer, a "flag catcher" and a sternsman paddling on a two lane course racing to be the first team to pull the flag at the finish line.
